Le Pressoir owners Mélanie and Franck Mear are from Brittany in
Northwest France, where Franck first became interested in gastronomy. He
later worked in Paris for several Michelin one- and two-star
restaurants, eventually moving to London where he further enhanced his
skills at fine London restaurants. He was then recruited by Renaissance
Cruises, an operator of luxury cruises renowned for extraordinary
cuisine and impeccable service. With Renaissance, he both extended and
perfected his French culinary mastery, while expanding his knowledge of
global cuisines.
Meanwhile, Mélanie, Franck's wife, was perfecting some other equally
important aspects of fine dining. While working for a number of years as
a travel agent, she became highly knowledgeable about travel, fine
wines, and foods, and trained to become an oenologist. Recognized by the
prestigious Gault Millau as hostess of the year, she willingly shares
with you her knowledge of fine wines and "coup de Coeur" top choices to
please all your senses.
In 1999, Mélanie and Franck headed to St. Martin, where Franck became
chef of Le Pressoir. In 2005, they bought the restaurant. That "great
challenge" has become the good fortune of thousands of repeat customers
from the world over.
On the pages of our site, you can see some of Franck and Mélanie's
work. Visit with us soon for some great Le Pressoir memories of your own.
